When learning disabled students decide to attend college, they not only have to consider carefully the college programs that provide LD support services (see Top Universities for LD Students ), they must also consider the cost of the institution. This article will present a variety of different scholarship sources for students with disabilities, including learning disabilities. Anne Ford ScholarshipA $10,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who can act as a role model for others with disabilities, and one who has the potential to contribute to society in order to provide opportunities for all people with learning disabilities.
Ralph G. Norman ScholarshipThe Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas offers this scholarship.
P. Buckley Moss Society Habison ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to high school seniors with language-related learning disabilities.
National Society of the DAR/Margaret Howard Hamilton ScholarshipA $1000 award for a high school senior accepted to the Ben Caudle Learning Center at the University of the Ozarks. This scholarship is renewal for a 4 year period.
Recording for the Blind/Learning through ListeningThree scholarships of $3,000 for learning disabled students. Selection based on academic achievement, leadership, enterprise, and service to others ~ not financial need.
Pilot International Foundation ScholarshipsThree scholarships offered for students planning to pursue careers in disabilities and brain related disorders. Applicants must be sponsored by a local Pilot Club.
P. Buckley Moss Society Cary ScholarshipThis Memorial Scholarship is given to students who plan to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in special education.
Other Financial Resources for LD StudentsIn addition to the resources above, be sure to check into local civic and social organizations. The student's guidance couselor at school, or the Human Resources Department will know what is available in your own community.
